About
Welcome to Melanie Charnock Psychotherapy
Asking for help is not always easy, especially when you’re struggling with something that’s very close to you. Sometimes the reasons are not easy to reach, there is just a sense that not all is well with where we are at the moment. This feeling may have been heightened with the coronavirus and the uncertainty it has brought. Whatever the reason, it will be unique to you. I understand how daunting that first step of reaching out and contacting a therapist can be, which is why I aim to provide a safe, friendly, comfortable and non-judgemental space where you can speak freely and share whatever pain you feel able to.
I am a fully qualified UKCP Psychotherapist and Psychotherapeutic Counsellor who works with adults aged 18 and over. With experience in individual, couple and group therapy, I am committed to helping you through difficulties you are experiencing. Through mutual discussions I will facilitate your discovery of techniques, strategies and different perspectives that it is hoped will help you gain a better understanding and make positive changes in your life.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is the key to therapy which means that I work collaboratively with you. My aim is to empathise and gain an understanding of your world so that the therapy can be specific to your unique needs.
My working times are Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and on Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. I offer sessions via video conferencing, by telephone or face to face from my private practice based in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne, which has free off-street parking and is serviced well by local bus services and is easily accessible from Newcastle City Centre, North Shields, Blyth, Longbenton, Morpeth, Cramlington, Jesmond and Gosforth.
